Koga is situated about a twenty minute drive north of the Fukuoka Airport. Historically, Koga is renowned for its hot springs and physically it is characterized by its white sandy beaches which are lined by beautiful pine forests.
It is along this coastline that you can find Koga Golf Club,one of the country's finest golf courses that sometimes hosts the Japan Open Golf Championship. For many years Koga was the home of Kyushu University's dormitory for foreign students. In keeping up with this tradition foreign students from elementary school to university level still come to Koga to enjoy homestays with local families.
